Damsel Dreaming

I've collected every tear you've shed
As if they were the rarest of gems
Felt your every wound
As if to my very insides
they were hemmed
Embraced your fears and
Held you close with all my might
Nothing less felt right but
Sorrowful penance of mine
That for me, to ever have a chance
To be with you again
I must first close my eyes
