Gotta tell you that our new hawk hatchlings are our local nincompoops. Missy Hawk went after a squirrel, in front of the sliding glass door that I write at. Missy Hawk wasn't getting birds, and was hungry. So she swooped in for a squirrel, fast and hard. But she couldn't get enough lift and the both splatted on my window. Feathers flew and the squirrel peed on my glass door. Then the hawk, now fighting with the squirrel, hit a tree 5 foot away. Squirrel got dropped. Squirrel 1... Hawk nothing.

PS. This just happened as I was reading this wonderful poem. I had to get up and hose the pee off my window. And it happened 2 feet in front of me. Just wish I'd gotten a video of it! It had gone sooo amazingly wrong!
