Cynical New Year
Here we go again trying to outdo our past
Another year gone and lessons that won’t last
People before principles is where we’re heading I fear
Prudence has been lost, common sense shoved to the rear
Year past we had a shred of hope for peace at least
New Year’s come yet upheaval still rules the Mideast
E-boli is forgotten and our current pandemic is the flu
What government population control is coming anew?
You see fights, stupidity, pollution, wars, and history of it all
Each generation perpetuates its own fall
Are we ever going to learn our lesson? Gain and grow?
Revel in the New Year if you can … use what you know
