Notes About The Poem

Cyclothymia and Depression - a Collaboration With Darren White:

The parachute just will not open, As I spiraled, free falling to the ground, This nightmare is happening again, Never able to leave this merry-go-round. Another day of struggle and strife, In a throat hold deadly dangerous grip, I’ve lost the concept and meaning of life, Drowned in self-pity waters I do dip. Love can neither rescue or save me, Falling faster than the pouring rain, On this rafter lost on the high sea, I know in my heart I have nothing to gain. They say that misery adores company, In my case, this is neither right nor true, Wishing that I could one day see, And live a life never feeling blue. *** The other side of me is light and free As I'm soaring the skies like an eagle High and jubilant, nothing escapes me On top of the world, a ruler, regal Who does need sleep? I don't, I'm writing Poem after poem, and in between I paint, play guitar, I am thriving The most wonderful person ever seen I am at full speed, creative high tide No one can follow, I love you all All that worried me I now push aside Trying to forget about my next fall... Why can't I have some balance, always! Where I'm creative, and not feel bad Where I can sleep, happiness stays Without knowing that I'll soon be sad.

I understand this only too well. All four of my children suffer from this, and ADHD. My only son has it the worst. I am so thankful he found an understanding wife. His older sisters have never married. It is hard to understand unless you live with it. Your poem pretty much says it all and is so moving. It seems genetic in our family. The more people who become aware the better. Blessings, Connie : )

It matters not if we dance, if we laugh, if we sit, if we cry as long as we write. And the we I am referring to is you two poets. Every time your pens sings a duet, the music is so very beautiful and amazing. Bravo to both poets.

Well done Darren and White Wolf you open our eyes to a subject that is so misunderstood ... I guess having cyclothymia must be like being on a rollercoaster with such rapid highs and lows. I am so lucky I don't suffer from either condition and glad you find comfort through your writing:-) hugs Jan xx

It is therapeutic, Jan! But I can only write when manic or "high". In my down times, I am not creative at all! AT ALL!!! Which makes it suck even more! Thankfully I am reasonably leveled out on my medications. Just must make sure I don't stop taking them is all! Or else I become psychotic! Thank you for your visit today and happy limerick judging /|\

I especially love this poem because it is so close to you, to me. We've found each other one day in mutual understanding over this. And it's this part of our friendship that is very helpful during our darker days. A different poem from what people are used to from us, but that is good :).... What Demetrios said yes... Cyclothymia is Bipolar Disorder III, there are three forms of bipolar disorder, and this one is the form where mood changes in rapid succession.

Monumental poem on cyclothymia that only someone who lives it could ever fully understand! I bow before the beauty and truthfulness of this masterpiece which came out of such superb collaboration. Congratulations to both of you: WW and DW! A seven to each a nd a fav to me ! Cyclothymia= from two Greek words- Kyclos = cycle and Thymos= Mood. We all are my friend, just the speed changes!

But we don't all have psychotic episodes! Haha, thank you dearly, Demetrios! As you are aware there is still a lot of stigma surrounding this subject! Hopefully one day that shall dissolve /|\
