Curtain Call
I flee from the reality of self
In blind attempt at being self-less
Confronting an enlightened self-interest.
I have stepped into the shadows
Allowed them the spotlights curse
of cheers and boos of curtain calls.
Suppress the urge to take the stage
Permit them praise, and failures fury
Deny them not their bloodied glory.
I do it not for them but self
To touch the hem of passing whim
In closing act of one-night stand.
