Cupped Pepperoni

The Story Behind Cupped Pepperoni.

Vino bon Pepperoni, the first man to cup his pepperoni. After being lost in the Mediterranean sea for nine weeks at the age of 13, the story become legend. Vino bon Pepperoni went missing after his parents took him to the beach in Sardinia and left him alone playing among the drift wood. With only a sausage in his pocket, the driftwood on which he was playing broke free and the currents took him swiftly away beyond his parent's sight. It was then, back in 1013, after several days of hunger, Vino bon Pepperoni slipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out the sausage, which by now was dry and hard. He cupped that little dry hard sausage in his hands and prayed, "dear God, get me out of here!" Then Vino ate. For several weeks later poor little Vino starved and waited to be rescued. Then came a mighty steam ship who found Vino laying there on the wood. They took Vino on board and asked him what happened. It was then when Vino said these famous words, "I cupped my pepperoni and prayed." It was in all the papers. You must have read it.

P.S. In character of the time, Vino bon Pepperoni's tale is told, as structured poetry was not invented yet.
