Cry Planet Cry

CRY PLANET CRY

Every country is guilty of polluting planet earth,
All the way down its length and across its girth,
We all will ultimately pay the deserved price,
Who will be first, it’s like rolling the dice,
To mention a few, Moscow, to London to Perth!

We throw plastic bottles, packets of take away food,
From car windows, from high buildings, so crude,
Rubbish mounts up horribly in suburbs and cities,
We are committing suicide, was it this bad in the fifties
People then could plan for tomorrow, no longer dude!

Factories, trucks and old cars emit carbon dioxide,
We walk and drive through rubbish, have we no pride,
Do we not sorrow for the future, even the morrow?
We might as well go freeze at the top of Kilimanjaro,
I see a planet mourning, hopeless tears will be cried!

We must practice dialogue intellect and compassion,
Is all this now out of fashion, where is our passion,
Presidents, prime ministers, all rulers look ahead,
For quite plainly if you don’t we are all dead,
No malignant plans please, and no more dispassion!

A great heartfelt plea Jenny, that this world would wake up and see its plight and its lack of common sense and duty to the poor and needs lacking the world's protection. This is penned with such fine rhyme and flow, truly superb! Hugs and blessings, Gordon

Thank-you Gordon - quite a scary situation we are facing - shortly buying a bottle of water will equate to a hundred pounds! Hugs, Jennifer

Thanks for you wise comment Michelle, but when will our governments wake up, the people must therefore now take the onus upon themselves it seems, and suburbs should have meetings with a committee in place that polices this dilemma. Hugs Jennifer.

Great minds lay in the same gutter - you must read what I just posted, why it is ironic to me that I clicked on this poem which I feel should have also been a POTD! Concur and love it. Poetry hugs .... CayCay (did u know elec cars hurt earth more than gas cars because they must rape and pillage the earth for the necessary metals? i want everyone to know.)

I've read so , the batteries are the problem as to produce and them dump them them when they are finally exhausted cause high pollution rates and they use up a great deal of the world's mineral supplies. I'm now going to read what you posted. Hugs and best wishes my friend.

Great poem, Jennifer. You have covered how horribly we are treating nature, Soon nature, in order to save the earth, will have no choice but to cleanse humans from the earth. Let's hope we wake up soon. All the best~ Warren

Can't we as a group (a big international website appeal to someone) anyone of authority in the media, for it seems no-one wants to start the ball rolling, the people must be heard! Thanks for a wonderful comment Warren, and great to hear from you! Hugs, Jennifer

I do wish there were a way to wake people up but, I am also afraid that it will take more of a disaster than we can handle, in order to, do so. Well penned.

Hi MLK I understand that in parts of America there are water police patrolling - that is what we need here also - the quicker we all act the less the disaster. Thanks for a very relevant comment MLK - hugs, Jennifer.

Your powerful poem is what many of us can relate to, Jenny. We would love to see positive action taken to stop the damage, secondly to repair some of what has been done. There has been much talk, but more important now is to act...time is not on our side!~ Warm regards & Hugs // paul

Thank you for your insightful comment Paul and yes, we are in trouble already! No country seems to want to take up the lead in this issue - it's very troubling and too close for comfort! Warm regards and hugs, Jennifer.

Very well expressed Jennifer. We are even polluting space now. My children have never seen crisp starlight skies in the way we saw them. Unfortunately self interest is a buffer to change. // Barry.

You are so right Barry - bring the family and visit the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga in South Africa (meaning where the sun rises), there you will see our wildlife and experience the most awesome, wonderful star lit sky that you have ever seen! Thank you for your so apt comment, - yes I agree we have already polluted planet earth, now man has moved to space! Hugs, Jennifer.

Mankind lives as a destructive creature. One that takes and takes and takes. Your brilliant poem sheds more light upon that sad and tragic fact about us. I hope your pen runs mighty and long, my great friend... A fave..

Last message continuation: Not to say that there isn't still a ton of room for improvement environmentally in the Chicago area... other concerns have surfaced as well...And yet things are qualitatively much better today. So, yes, we can do it, and yes there is hope! :) gw

There is Gershon and we must pray for the good of mankind - our hope can never wither and die, as what would then be our way forward? Thank-you for your great informative comments. Hugs, Jennifer.

Important message, Jennifer... You asked a question about how things were back in the '50's. Perhaps it was a rhetorical question. I am going to answer it as if it were a straight question, however: In Chicago and its suburbs, things were much, much worse environmentally in the fifties than they are now. Steel mills to the south of Chicago and manufacturing concerns to its north were dumping egadzooks worth of pollutants into the air and Lake Michigan! It was horrible! Much better today! :)

That's right---without the good old 'racist,' 'homophobic,' 'imperialistic' US of A, Europe would have never been rebuilt and would have been swallowed alive by the former Soviet Union---and then there would have been a USSR vs. USA face-off, which we may well have lost...Not that any Europeans think twice about this anymore... Oh, well... The World Turns. ~ gw

Hi Gershon, glad you enjoyed my Peanut Butter strike poem! I loved boarding school, got up to lots of mischief! I'm not sure about Chicago, but I hear you and that is wonderful news. However, what I did find out when I was writing this poem is that the American Secretary of State George C. Marshall, just after the WW ll donated billion of dollars to assist Europe in their economic and productivity growth and that from the fifties going into the seventies, this was known as the Golden Age, but having said that during this period was the Cold war, the Vietnam war and the division of Germany - politics are complicated - getting that headache again! Hugs, Jennifer.

We certainly do Nette and all your comments will definitely help me in this crazy and bold but perhaps futile idea I have sketched out below to Alexis and MLK - I am as desperate as everyone else but the public must be heard, somewhere, somehow. Thank you Nette for this apt and awesome comment. Hugs, Jennifer.

It is heartbreaking, the condition we have created on our planet. Someway, somehow, those who see must find a way to teach those who don't see. Keep writing, speaking, teaching in the hope that others will learn and act, before its too late. Well penned truth.

Hi MLK, I have thought of a somewhat impossible idea but each world leader has a PA or an HR department, whoever receives their fan mail and I am going to make an attempt to send this poem and thirst is first to the PA's of leaders world wide. Thank- you for an awesome answer - wish me luck. Hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer, I agree and I heard you loud and clear. This is my type of poem! You are spot on when you say this is a global problem. It packs a hard punch and a reality check. I think people think the earth is invincible and pollution won't harm it. They are totally wrong. If we "all" don't get it together "mainkind" will no longer exist. Excellent poetry me friend from across the pond:-) Alexis

It's not only pollution but water too by 2035 water will have to be bought at premium, excuse the pun, but we are already in deep water! i have a good mind to post this to the HR of all world leaders together with my thirst is first poem and tell them this poetry group represents comments and opinions from all over the world - it's just to their HR, i don't even think they will glance at it, but at least we can show them how concerned we are, and that we represent a large majority. I will wait a while to see if anyone else comments. Your comment was excellent, spot on! Hugs, Jenny.

Hear, Hear My Friend. I do so totally agree. We should all have a care for what we are doing to our environment. What we are leaving behind for our children and grandchildren to endure. A fine write. God Bless, JB

Hi m y friend, Exactly, it is what we are leaving behind for all the children, we have two sons recently married and together with their wives, have decided not to bring children into this chaotic world which sadly means no granchildren for us, but I do understand. Thank-you for a wonderful comment, Hugs, Jennifer.

The world is in a mess Vijay, wars between the rich and poor and between those who have power over water supplies and those who have to pay handsomely to get it, is perhaps about 20 years away according to statistics (especially the water problem) - we live in scary times Vijay. Thank you for a great comment, Hugs, Jennifer.

Unfortunately it,s severe neglect is starting to tell! 3rd world countries will be the first to suffer followed by most of the world, followed by the elite, powerful and very rich. Thank you for a lovely comment SO. Hugs, Jennifer.

Jennifer, it's a shame people do not care. A few months back my little dog developed pancreatic.. so when I take him to the park I have to watch that he doesn't pick up food people have just thrown out of the car windows .. he bites when I take it away from him, but I can't afford the vet bill. Water bottles everything is just dumped on the ground and trash cans all over. To lazy to walk to one.. grrrrr

Here too Eve, England and all Europe and you have just confirmed what other Americans voice also. Its tragic - one of these days there will be an outbreak of Ebola and then all the airports will shut down! So whether its political war, war between the rich and poor, war over water, or a pandemic disease I would imagine we are doomed. Those people that have been chosen for a one way ticket to Mars had foresight. Thank you for such a meaningful comment! Hugs, Jennifer.

You are right Jennifer. There is so much that Mankind (which is everyone) does to destroy the Earth. We are all guilty in some way. I pray that things change, and for the better. ~ Brandy
