Crumpled Thoughts

so many lines i’ve written
in the middle of the night
only to toss them
inadequate

simply not measuring up
to the depths of my feelings
their dull reflections lost
in the yearning of my love for you

seeking those perfect words 
worthy of wings taking flight
to find their way across the sky
where you now sleep

For me, anyway, this is whom you seem to be reaching out to.(I had felt that way trying to honor my brother Dale even though he had died in the '80's and I did not start writing poetry till 2000.
