Cruel Words

Early on When I was young Teachers would Ask me to speak Quickly then All would hear That I Mispronounced my words Some didn’t Think it real Others just Pointed and mocked Quickly I Tried not to speak And learned To hate reading out loud Doctors worked For many long years Till I Could be understood Memory lingers And still it is Very hard To read out loud

I had a speech impediment when I was young. One of the things I did was replace the ' t ' sound with an ' f ' sound. Mr brother was always trying to get me to say the word truck.
