Crossing Time

The wrath of time will cling to me and stay To form a shell on my template of skin The shores I walk will always guide my way And show the highs and lows of tides within The length of time will shorten on my shore And I will watch the flesh I wear turn gray The speed of life my thoughts cannot ignore When death is rushing towards without delay As I wave to memory's last goodbye I'll turn to watch the sunsets disappear No eye will come to comfort me and cry Rather I'll raise a toast of wine and cheer The thought of death I'll never comprehend And only stop to notice at the end 10/25/17

Fabulous Sonnet. It conveys a difficult topic eloquently. Enjoyed it immensely.

Ah, death. WE poets become more and more fond of this topic with age! You did very well with the theme. I especially like the lines about the length of time shortening on your shore and the "the wearing" of flesh turning grey!
