Crimson Shadow

Sitting, thinking, darkness pervades
Crimson shadows stain my brain
My thoughts awash in shades of grey
Nothingness... nothing, only pain

-----

Oh, the stains, the crimson stains!
Oh, how the stains invade my brain!

Head hung low in deepest musing
Not a hope, always losing
Pressing hard my fingers straining
Stain upon my temple remaining

Oh, the stains, the crimson stains!
Oh, the pain, the insipid pain!

Mad, the visions slowly creeping
In my head they wake from sleeping
Blood red maggots, always slinking
Squeeze them tight, their crimson, bleeding

Oh, the stains, in my brain!
Oh, abhorrence to obtain!

-----

Mind slips, concentration degrades
Debasing crimson shadows ingrained
Will is lost as feelings fray
Haunting emotions, unexplained

-----

Oh, the stains, the crimson stains!
Oh, the horror they retain!

Viscous thoughts like liquid oozing
Blackness engulfs each shadow's choosing
Reflections through the twilight peeking
In my heart my soul is shrieking

Oh, the stains, the crimson stains!
Oh, how it pulses through my vein!

The time is lost to pablum speaking
Verbose ideas are sorrows seeking
Darkened thoughts now are growing
Replaced by words concise and flowing

Oh, the stains, in my brain!
Oh, dark reflections can't remain

-----

Crimson shadows or crimson shades
Darkness fades to light again
Lucent shadows, some will stay
As crimson shadows in my brain

How one is washed away by waves of depression sometimes changing to an entirely different person unrecognizable. All this quite nicely dished out here. Good job.

Thank you Samiha. The darkness of depression can be overwhelming, luckily for most of us it eventually subsides.

Thank you, BW, for sparing the time to visit my poems. I know there are so many out there from which to choose and so little time (at least for me). Your choosing mine... let's just say I respect your opinion and it is always a pleasure reading your work. Thank you again. rjijr
