tears
on her pillow
refuse to dry
only her piano
                    knows her pain

sitting
in her gown
her fatigued fingers
break her silence
                        as they weep
until crimson drops
                           stains her keys

yet
no one
hears her sorrowful
serenade of
                 shame

a fool for love
lamenting his
lack of loyalty

her eyes flood
dripping onto ivory
rectangles of regret

but
they wash away
crimson blemishes
for her to play
                    vividly and vigorously

harmony of her hands
play away the pangs
                            of heartbreak

her heart knows
this symphony
                    could end in tears

but
she smiles
believing there is
always hope for a
                        better tomorrow

Congratulations on your win Silent One! The poem is so beautifully painful and aching. "as they weep until crimson drops stains her keys" I'm glad there is a ray of hope...

Very creative write this is dear silent one, your way with words always amazes me and leaves me speechless, and the character youv described here sounds like a pianist that finds comfort through keys kismet, anyhow i love many lines in this but the most is “ rectangles of regrets” and the ending is beautiful! A person that is able to see light i see through your words. Congratulations on your win

Beautiful words my friend. This speaks of a lovely and talented person who puts all her emotions into her art. Now her art soothes her injured spirit as she plays. Lovely God Bless, JB

“rectangles of regret” “harmony of her hands”...such brilliant alliterative descriptions, and a lovely, emotive poem that so many of us enjoy. I hope all is well, Silent, and hopefully you are just taking a restorative break from PS (I am, at least), visiting now and again. I am lacking inspiration as of late..cyber hugs go your way. I look forward to your return.. :)

The heart of a true poet my friend, bleeding for your art ! It conjures up such vivid imagery. As I am an E. A. Poe and T S Eliot fan, my mind is immediately transported there. It is the great strength of your writing which enables the mind to make these associations ! Kim

I don’t know why but my mind wanders to Delta Dawn as I read this piece. Well expressed as always my friend. I hope you find your way back here. Myself I have not been spending much time here but am back now and again. Blessings Rick.
