Crayons

I remember
opening a new box of crayons
on the first day of kindergaten
I was so excited
their smell an intoxication
caalling me
taunting me to create
All twenty four colors
lined up in a row
waiting for me to pick them up
These crayon would be well used and
replaced several times
always in the knowledge that
there is something out there that needs to be drawn
