Cowboys Love It When

Cowboys love it when, There is no barbed wire in site, And the local Sheriff, Is conspicuous by his absence. Cowboys Love it when, There is a shortage of skilled, Builders Plumbers and electricians. Cowboys love it when, They can mostly check their own work, And council staff are increasingly too busy, Or on the take. Cowboys love it when, Lawyers are too expensive, for the average citizen, So most disputes go to small claims courts, Where Lawyers are not allowed anyway, At least in NZ Either way the Cowboys seldom lose any sleep. Cowboys love it when, The odds of being held to account, Are less than than those of winning Lotto, And they are free to get blotto, With money from jobs seldom finished.

Gosh, do you know about the old show from the early 70's show called Gunsmoke? Funny, my husband still finds it on tv. Wasn't John Wayne a famous cowboy? Gosh, I am really dating myself. Got to love a sharp dressed man in old leather cowboy boots! Fun poem with cute lines :)

Thanks for that. I am not so keen on the modern westerns. They don't have story lines, just overacting shooting in the back which real cowboys never did. The old westerns were more family entertainment. Best regards David in NZ

Thanks Victor. I am sure cowboys are thriving in most countries. Also seems there are many now who are happy to do deals under the table. Weather great here but further north they got wake up call from Tsunami from Volcanic eruption near Tonga which could continue for some time. We are well above sea level in Wainuiomata but rest of Wellington and Lower Hutt not so much. Glad you are still around in 2022. My poetry now appears most weeks in our local paper.
