Cowboy Hoe Down

This long awaited date - a hoedown it’s to be shy smiles as we head in we touch hands nervously We allemande left and do-si-do Then both head ladies chain and breathlessly we meet in each other’s arms again We swirl in sawdust on the floor to the tune sweet Bye and Bye Evocative is the patter as the gold moon rises high An anticipated moment as the fiddle fades away Your denim and my lace soon lie buried in the hay Sweet echoes of the evening fill passion in the soul Upon the amber straw we both have lost control written October 27, 2014 by Rick Parise and Andrea Dietrich For Shadow Hamilton's Cowboy Hoe Down Contest

I can hear those sweet sounds clearly. The sounds of country fiddling and easy laughter. I tell you what, I'd like to go right now.

Yep, that square dancing can sure get the blood rushing and get one hot and bothered. Guess it is the western version of dirty dancing.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I used to do rock dancing at parties and shows. Two of my nephews pay in rock and roll bands - "The Mad Doctors" and "Sirs and Madams" respectively. I used to sing the "art songs" my father made out of my poetry. I almost always vote Democratic because that of the family I was brought up in. I have friends I disagree with on these matters. Whoa!! That dance lead to a full blown romance..Way to go for the contest..Reads like a winner to me..Thanks for the visit..I was thinking that droup was the old English spelling of the word..I meant to look it up and forgot(senior moment) to do that..I found that no that is not the old English way of spelling it..Have a great Utah day..Sara

I have been square dancing, too and have enjoyed it very much. Not long ago I rook California swing lessons. Nice rhymes in this poem. I have got to write a new one soon. According the Abraham Maslow - "a composer must write music and a poet must write poetry. Whatever one can be - one must be" - What do you think of that? Peace & Love Matthew Anish
