Covid 2

it’s odd to be held hostage
by the same thing
at the same time
as the entire world
it’s put everyone
into darkness
the unknown
the unseen
one of the perils
of being a senior
is isolation
it’s ironic that
i’ve been asked to do
just that; isolate
shelter in place at home
go out only when necessary
avoid contact with others,
even family
unfortunately for a great many
that means little has changed

I read your poem today, in the Anthology book 2. It is truly moving, scary in its hidden connotations, and sad, in that it exposes the loneliness experienced by many, in everyday life, outside of Covid. Brilliant !

Indeed, how very true. For many, little has changed. Very well said.

Very powerful poem. It has been a terrible time for so many people. Let's hope the light is at the end of the tunnel. Have a lovely day.
