Covering What Remains
The earth, such beauty above breathes
though below, desolate caverns
carved of this chest once filled with life,
piled gravel, mountains of molehills,
not for climbing, but falling
as this pit craves despair, loneliness
yet I shall stand beyond these depressions,
rising up, holding tight this shovel
borrowed for burying, covering what remains
of my past…
