Controversy

Immortal time, grand cathedrals awed The stage still awaits his entrance there Of a god man seeks and humbly lauds But who hasn’t come, or seems to care Countless centuries has passed man by There have been gods of every kind A lot of them have lived in the sky But mostly they live in man’s mind Socrates and Homer practiced piety Homer wrote poems about the many There were mythic gods of mythic deity And no person saw or talked to any Man still builds monuments with spires Made to give rising souls a boost Going upward to avoid hell’s fires And for the occasional pigeon to roost
