Control, Attack, Restore

cell splitting
cusp of freedom on the edge
splashing joy

damage spreads
cells lament tormenting truth
dying still

even so
new creations work harder
threatening

disease calls
stubborn from birth to its sleep
rattles heart

heart reacts
brave on the sun's horizon
hope instills

cells remain
raped inside you by forced smile
they know it

Laura, it's the intellect of the cell. If you put enough of them together, you get a brain! This is just too funny and clever for me not to smile. You have such insight my dear. So many perspectives on things. I pale with my simple interpretations of things that I constantly summarize. That is why I only write brief poetry, and why I am in such awe of what you do. The mind is funny as you point out (and it has to deal with a lot).

You can do it all woman! This composition is an exemplary use of analytical rhythm in haiku form. This work is very visceral, in that communicates the inner battle of biology and soul. Although richly dark and violent, to me this poem is riveting with perseverance Laura...J.A.B.

I love that you understand so deeply Justin! It's so refreshing, though not surprising as you read and analyze so effortlessly and intelligently. Thank you, as always, for your meaningful thoughts. ~Laura

Thanks very much! The body is fierce against all sicknesses and disease. It fights with resilience and often ceaselessly, even when death rears its head to warn of its coming. We can't deny each little part of us is significant... we cannot hide ourselves...from ourselves...? If that makes sense.. I'm weird. I dunno what I'm saying anymore. Thanks for the visit anyhow! ~Laura
