Consumed

I feel the agony
Crawling up my legs
Gnawing at my arms
Ripping into me
Trying to take over
I fight and fight
Till the pain grows
Never stopping as it eats away at me
Ripping through me.
Many might believe
It’s simple to be consumed
that it’s quick and painless
but I know the feeling.
The sickening feeling of being devoured and consumed by the righteous,
But come to think of it,
I preferred the darkness more.

Sigh, unfortunately I can resonate with that feeling of being 'consumed ' too.. Which devours one's every sense.. Leaving us lifeless.. It's very painstaking and vulnerable.. Your words actually make the readers feel those particular emotions which you convey within such emotive phraseology and wordplay.. Truly a very palpable write..

Hannah, your poem "Consumed" is a powerful and evocative exploration of pain and suffering. The imagery is visceral and disturbing, and the tone is raw and emotional. I especially appreciate the way you use the metaphor of being "consumed" to convey the feeling of being overwhelmed by pain.
