Consumed
Nibbling at my toes,
whilst preparing my legs -
drilling through to the deepest of marrow within;
a burning consumes my body.
The old familiar monster returns
once more sinking its teeth
sharply into my ample buttocks;
whilst diligently slicing into my back,
delightfully and slowly the knife edge cuts
layer upon layer until reaching the hips.
Here a masterpiece he carves
from my bones, taking great care
to ensure each piece is etched.
Etched with deep precision,
no area left unscathed.
With fiery breath he burns,
breath sending me to feverish tumults.
Medication takes no effect
when in such dire need;
time to hit back with the monster of all,
the physician's big daddy
when all else is lost.
Time seems endless in this battle
to out sleigh this tyrant ,
when from nowhere peace instills
dreams as I float sedatively up from my body,
rising above all, sickly so;
slipping into subconscious sleep.
Barely aware, but not feeling the same,
as modern prescription takes its toll;
in helping me overcome a mother episode.
Helping give me recovery,
chance to calm,
be still and rest.
Ready to fight the great battle once more.
