Confronting a Shark
CONFRONTING A SHARK
She was all set for her nervous first date,
bubbling inside with excitement galore.
A rich father’s only daughter’s marital fate
she would go all out to earnestly explore.
They had chosen a restaurant grand,
befitting her life-style of a rare class.
Her customized dress of reputed brand
matched the glitter of diamond necklace.
He was in all praise for her exquisite taste,
awestruck, forgot to place order for food.
She asked for bowl of clear soup in haste,
thought that would help change the mood.
She could see his scheming eyes sparkle
knowing the worth of her father’s asset.
His queries went around in unending circle
till they stopped at how much she would get.
Her crestfallen sight shifted from his face
to the bowl on table, the other thing in front.
Reflected in it was his toothy smile’s trace,
she saw a shark in the soup to confront.
