Concerto In Sun Major

As rain washes away the darkness of the prior night
The morning showers pay tribute to the maestro with beat
As the sun waits for its chance to contribute to the melody
The curtain of the clouds sways with each sounding resonation

Upon the break of the clouds, as curtains then open
The sun makes a grand entrance, intensified by lingering drops
As if each drop was a drum sound representing a footstep
Of the sun moving forward to take the center stage

I'm very fond of long lines, which may surprise people who think of Tanka as short line poetry. But my Tanka tend to maximum length. Anyway, I really like the way the long lines sustain the image through the whole poem. One small nit; I would put a "the" before "beat" at the end of L2, mainly for rhythmic reasons.

This poem is outstanding in it's beauty! It is not only beautiful to read, but it's as if one can hear the music! Makes me want to close my eyes and drink it in! A lovely way to start my morning!....Fondly, Carrie
