Complicated - a Discourse
The old argument indelible as night
The word is the substance
The blind bringer and giver of light
Here beg I for coherence
For what she wrote was "please we
Miss you" on the flesh of memory
And that line like a seed farmed in me
Made radicle and hypocotyl in
The heart's universe of belonging. She
The siren singing in the dim din
Keeled my ship with subversive star
To net my booty home from afar.
You will not understand unless you
Had needed some one more
Than mere material things, a clue
Of words is enough. O sure
Taking intent and promise as one
Unravels the mystery of God's son.
I see each simple thing in deep beyonds
In meanings un-breached of birth
My word a thousand paradigms here scans
Always merging heaven and earth
And she with all her subtle care here shines
The better angel of us, and the ship pines
For the water somewhere where care
Is just the labor of her eye
My sail lamenting for the waves there
And bonds not broken that tie
Us ... making value of random thought
Words are with so much power fraught.
