Commercialism

Habits are difficult to break…
and when lethal it is as if trying
to scale a fence with barbs at the top.

Smoking, drug addiction,
bad relationships
attach to one’s spirit like flypaper
or gooey-spider-webs, entrapping
the soul, gumming-up divine essence
making it difficult for God to be heard
above the interference, and for us
to discern the clear, clean direction
of Mother Nature.

We are not only what we are born with,
but also what we see, open our ears to
and what we ingest--

Stop being manipulated! Turn off
conditioning echoes--the TVs,
radios and computer magnets
that are playing havoc with our moral
compasses, both physical and mental--

Don’t let commercialism be the
death of Free-thinking in Humanity!

You are right, smart phones are dumbing down the nations... and TV has its own agenda, depending on what channel you view... Wise words my friend..

Hi Si: Not that I do not love entertainment...nor even advertising (we all do in one way or another)--what I dislike is manipulation. God gave us total Free Will. He does not send lightning to wipe us out--we do it to ourselves using His Name and Power.

Indeed! We need to get back to basics, Joe. You express it well, too many distractions from what's really important. Thoughtful poetry, my friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

Hi Susan; it seems like people today are terrified to be alone with their thoughts. If there isn't a radio blasting in the background, or a computer on their lap or phone at their ear, they have no life. Sad. Connected to everything but what really matters.
