Comfort, Who Art Thou?

Heart racing, mind searching for answers.
So stuck. On the brink of tears.
Yet He remains good.

The need to control, the need to know.
Holding my breath for certainty that won't come.
Yet He remains good.

He holds my future in His hands.
With hope and purpose in His plans.
And for that, He is good.

A tender, faith-centred free verse poem that captures anxiety with striking simplicity: the racing heart, unanswered searching, and suspended breath feel immediate and human. The repeated “Yet He remains good” forms a calm, anchoring refrain, while the closing couplet turns uncertainty toward trust, hope, and purpose.

Precisely! You captured its essence so beautifully. From the first two lines of the first two stanzas intentionally capture that emotional spiral to the third line: “Yet He remains good.” That line represents the moment I interrupt the spiral. It is me reminding myself that although I may not understand what is happening, God's character has not changed. We may feel uncertain, but He is still good.
