For Ink Empress' the 'NA' Poetry Contest (is third time the charm?)

Come, winter, once again,
the way you came to me when I was young,
and with a handsome boy as we took a little stroll
along a country lane, our love new and pristine
as the wisps of white that gently drifted
with whispers of the wind. It seemed as if
sugar crystals were being sifted by the angels
from heaven above!

Oh, those soft pearls swirling in the dusk,
blanketing immaculately all the terrain.
We felt no need to speak, for it was so amazing.
As we continued on our way,
alabastine was the tread of our boots
as we inhaled deeply sweet quietude and peace.

Soon the soft flurries transformed into
much larger flakes of snow that seemed
to tumble from the sky.
We turned to walk hand in hand back to our cabin,
anticipating the warmth of its fireplace
before the dusk would turn into a pale blue night.
We spied three cardinals decorating
one of the many frosted trees along the lane.
As we hurried on, I stumbled at one point.
My gallant caught me and held me close.
We stood a while gazing into each other’s eyes.
I lightly brushed some snowflakes from his glistening cheeks.

When we arrived at the cabin made cozy by a fire,
we snuggled on the sofa, still watching out the window
as snow accumulated more and more.
Oblivious to mundane woes, we embraced
each other as we also embraced the serenity of that day.
Our new love was glowing and growing
like that December’s first day of snow.
Oh, come to me sweetly, winter,
as you did so long ago.

Ah dear andrea! Its you! Hah. I wouldnt have guessed, I absolutely loved the way youv painted imagery and written in such a creative manner. I bet whoever judged this before and gave this an NA must have struggled with judging, as judging is never easy, but this surely deserves a win, for the magical way your words flow in such a captivating manner. And how heartfelt and soul-stirring it is, loved it! Congratulations on your well deserved win. Thank you for sharing this!

You had really liked this when I posted it over 2 months ago so it was my only reasonable choice. It was even on top 100 new poems list back then. Thanks so much for it finally getting a contest win.

A lovely young love poem, Andrea. Pleasant memories from days of old. It was a pleasant read, and as usual, it had a beautifully rhythm to it as I read. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

Wow andrea, this is magical, the way you’ve painted imagery and done descriptive storytelling in a captivating and soul stirring manner is beyond impeccable. This is one of my faves again from you and the ending made me feel so much and i see rhymes too there. Creating such a lyrical cadence which fits perfectly the theme of this contest. Thanks. Fictional of course. I never spent a full night with boyfriends anywhere, especially not in a winter wonderland. Haha.
