I waited for you in the night
Holding my breath so wide awake 
The moon was high the stars shone bright 

I dreamt of holding you so tight
Enough to fear two hearts might break
I waited for you in the night

Sent love messengers in full flight
Adrift on ripples of the lake
The moon was high the stars shone bright 

Two spellbound hearts to reunite
Lovers winning big the sweepstake
While waiting for you in the night

Come to me quench my appetite
Sweet love in store through till daybreak
The moon so high the stars so bright 

Towards me comes my shining knight
It's you at last it's no mistake
I waited for you in the night
The moon was high the stars shone bright
