We finally got the snow that stays and it' really wet, cold and slippery out there.
Usually it's here by Halloween but it was late coming this year.
Love the snow, love the ice,
But stay inside don't be enticed,
To rush out in the icy storm,
Rejecting all that's safe and warm,
To make snow angels, plunge through drifts,
Until at last you feel the grip,
Of icy fingers clutch your bones,
And you begin to long for home,
Where safe and snug beside the fire,
You watch the storm and Nature's ire,
Build and blow against the pane,
And watch the trees bend and strain,
Against the chilling icy gale,
And listen to her moan and wail,
Like a lost soul in the storm,
While inside you're safe and warm.
It's most unwise to tempt Fate's hand,
But sometimes that's the wont of Man.
Nature cares not for a fool,
Sometimes her lessons can be cruel.
