Coffee and a Cup of Poetry

coffee and a cup of poetry
pleasure on a reading spree
looking up…it’s mid morning
chores pressing in, warning

cup was hot, warm, lukewarm, cold,
empty…not so the bouquet i hold
of friends funny, poignant and ripe
so many accolades to hype

love y’all, blowing kisses, sending hugs
all these pretty words to be swept under rugs
but i have to get busy buzzing ‘round
this full impact season profound

still finding time for friends and prayer
not embracing thoughts of life unfair
y’all know, I can’t help peeping
at your profundity whilst the tea is steeping

i’ll be back for another cup of cheer…
