Notes About The Poem

Written May 23 2026

Clouds Cry

The suns out yet clouds cry
In the south devil beats wife
For it rains despite sunshine
Don’t stare for you will go blind

I'm searching the slim resources of my brain's lining to try to figure out how the second line works. No luck so far. ~ gw

This is an old southern saying that when it’s sunny and raining at the same time the devil is beating his wife. Superstitions often are just based on fears.
