Cliff Notes

war be no game war is men in the trenches on the line up the hill downwind flying colors through the air blue sky and rabid sun snapping pictures of flapping angels falling off a cliff digging a deeper hole amidst the powdery musket-mist 12/19/2019

I can see them, ever beside them men, doing what is needed of them... prayers going up on both sides of the lines... You are such a wonderful poet. Ann

Yes, that is what you discover, prayers on both sides. I was just reading that Longstreet would stay up drinking and playing poker all night until until he lost 3 of his children in a single week to scarlet fever at the beginning of the civil war.

It seems like, only those who have never been on the front line, are in favor of war.... Wars should only be finished--never started. Great little poem, Kim.

And we must pay them tribute with remembrance and living a life worthy of their sacrifice.

You are right! If history has taught us something is that war is not a game but a horrible reality! A reality that we find not only in the battlefield but in all walks of life dearest, Kim! Gripping poem!

Yup. War for sure is no game. That's usually discovered the first dead body you encounter. Thanks for posting this one, Kim! Best wishes, Gershon... P.S. You've given me an idea about Viet Nam, based on Colin Powell's experiences there. May or may not post it tonight. Thank you so much! ~ gw

Something about the death of a person that is quite unsettling. You’ve said it!
