Notes About The Poem

Cleansed

Scripture reference: Matthew 8:1-4

CLEANSED

See Jesus descending from the mountain.
They were waiting - the large crowd.
Eyes on him, they followed him.
Right away -
a leper kneels before Christ.

If you are willing…I am willing

You can make me clean…Be made clean

Immediately
the leper was cleansed…Don’t tell anyone
Go…show yourself to the priest…

Show and tell, that’s our game -
mostly for our own fame.
Can we just accept
the Jesus gift?

The one they need,
spurred on by hearing,
by believing, by tongue-confession,
will they seek or
walk away?

When being handed gifts of bread and fish,
healings and sweet talk, or hanging with
the gang - all is good, but
God will separate the chaff from the wheat.

A large crowd followed, but
how many are left
to receive the gift
of eternal life
in Christ Jesus?

If we are willing, we will receive the whole word,
the living word, God’s word - the one that birthed
the human race, and not erase
the word we don’t agree with.

Be cleansed…are we willing?

Anytime anywhere anyplace as I believe that we all sin daily, for do we love thy neighbor as thyself always, even if they are obnoxious, do we stop and say kind words to every beggar in the street, or do we share and share alike our hard earned salaries with each member of even extended family, I love JESUS, always have and Christmas is my Favorite time of the year. I love your poem Kim - kudos. Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

Who wouldn’t want to? Why do we cling to the temporal when we can have so much more! Happy in Jesus! :)

Very lovely and very poignant Kim. Are we willing - great question! The healing spa is out there for us if we but chose to "be cleansed." I like this poem very much. Blessings of joy to you! Happy New Year.
