claws in clause
our country was founded
with concepts, enchanted
still so many these days
take so much for granted
we’ve abided this nation
where gripe or confession
is free-stated in public
without fear of repression
but this sacrosanct license
oft’ times used as a tool
by those whose objectives
are quite hateful and cruel
I believe that our founders
didn't quite have in mind
the way their amendment
has been boldly maligned
we laud true those authors'
commands for free speech
yet there’s caveat priceless
we sometimes don't teach …
that despite what we utter
come contentious or good
just because we CAN say it
doesn't mean that we …
SHOULD.
