Cinematique
I saw you take up wings
mounting the electric bird in song
with the thought in mind
that you could be happy, happier
Stretched out across the atlantic
fingers extending to another light
arms reaching for another pulse
you saw yourself in your own eyes
a different self—the same self
In another light, in another film
you are the same person as yesterday
with nothing to show for it.
