~Cinderella Memories~ Young, self-confident, all debutantes At the top of the golden, spiral, staircase. And, oh my, she, was in a Cinderella mood! The white full length strapless gown, Satin buttoned gloves to her elbow, And her partner, in his tuxedo, handsomely dressed, Made her humble, yet proud and so very blessed! They descended the spiral stairs to begin the Viennese waltz. Gowns of debutantes were swishing, shining floors. Sounding so much like fluttering butterfly wings. Their satin shoes like rosebuds,so beautifully peeked. Hair done to perfection, each of us with a crown Of fragrant carnations, coifed hair. on shoulders, down. Then, for each debutante, comes that auspicious moment. When they enter the center of the ballroom floor, with their father! Fathers dressed in tails to present each proudly, to society... Their most precious daughters, a second of visual poetry. Each debutante, so lovely, makes a full bow to the floor With long stemmed roses, not an easy task at all! The father in tails, so proud of the daughter. he has raised, Is indeed granted, the audience's cheers and highest praise! Let the full orchestra continue, the Viennese music play on. A Cinderella evening for a father's one and only daughter. With rows of zirconia on her wrist, she giggles with soft laughter, Oh…what memorable bliss! What a most heavenly evening to cherish and remember Whose memories brightly shine, in the chill of September. For his daughter, an everlasting memory of his charity. Monies we raised that night, sent to war torn countries. My Father you see, did not only think of “we!” He was committed to the well being of humanity. Dedicated to my late Father, Edward. With love and everlasting gratitude. You gave so much to so many, without question. A true humanitarian,I follow your directions! An example to follow! Panagiota xx 11/14/2024

Dearest Pangie, there is so much beauty in every layer of your exquisite tribute to your dad and this very special night, to a father daughter relationship, to a community, to instilling a sense of service and being aware of others even on your "Cinerella" night. Written so beautifully and tenderly. Thank you for sharing your joy and your dad. Blessings!

Dearest Poetess! Quite an oustanding review. Your joy in the poem’s totallty shines! A comment such as this yours is a true lighthouse to the author and most unique and establishes a desire to read you more. To write brief comnents, I call “roadrunner comments”. They are flat, like a glass of soda sans the bubbles for the poets soul! You are an influence on me to write more! Both writer and reader feel a sense of relationship!.All I can say is, “WOW”…. this indeed was a gift.” Hugs, Pangie xx

Hello dear, Pangie. This is a wonderful dedication to your dad. He is blowing you kisses from up above, I'm sure. You had a wonderful bond with your dad which is a beautiful thing. A lot of children miss out on that lovely part of life. I am fortunate to have special bonds with all my children. It is ours and our parents' choices. Seems we've all taken the right paths. Hugs Charlie

Hi Chales, nice ro hear from you. I did comment to one of your poems a few months ago, but I never heard back. That’s OK. It happened to me too.)) . . . . I am sure my dad was very happy to read this phone.. that’s only one of the things in my life. And my 16th birthday told me to walk in the morning and I did and sitting there was a red and white nine Chevy convertible for my i6th birtday, it was on my life all my friends as if they were his daughter . He would buy us . And if my friends needed a bike, he would buy them one or if they needed ice skate s. Every Christmas it would cherry up two pieces like a 7 foot Christmas tree for our classroom and Catholic school . he would bring cases of Coca-Cola and chips and pretzels … some children do not have a father or they have our drunk father and I’ve seen that action terrible. Permanent.. you have been a good parent and I’m very glad to see that…. Ridiculous. He was so special.. Pangie

All credit in this is to my Father, I will just happend to be blessed to be his daughter, Sara.I could pen a book about all the good he has done, but, not necessarry;some author already did! My grandfather as well. That’s a hard act to follow~the amazing thing, they never put another democratic country down. They did their best to raise the USa not tear it to shreds. In Our talk we should monitor it. The foreign jokesters are a shame to themselves and thieir countires of origin, bigtime! Pangie

You are lucky to have known a father's love and have these kinds of memories. Lovely depiction of an event I would never have even gotten close to!

Every Dad there was hard, blue collar workers. No 9 to fivers, many had four kids, we all lived in apartments, including one or two grandparents, and its ongoing every year, this ball. How they sent us all to Catholic school is beond me.there is no magic to it. Our fathers were hard workers. I know people do not like that.i can envision you there with us. I would love to roll back time and walk you through my life. Hugs, Pangie (even with Rober Ebert!)

How right you are, Golly, I saw Fathers beat their girls, send them to bed woth no dinner.force them to do chores. Spank them if they played piano wrong, some fathers are alcoholics or drug abusers i haveseem parents lock food away from children. Sure, I wish all children had fathers like mine. I would like to hear more in poetry about people who were good to them. Hugs, Pangie xpxp

One can only forgrateful for such a Father.. who never thought of his own comfort. But his family and Mom’s gigantic family and their grown children.. I really felt like Cinderella. We got to be in parades in Chicao, riding in convertbles. Wearing long, kid gloves and wearing rhinestone tiaras. Grand fun. Allthis thanks to ny Dad. A special moment to recall, yes. Love, Pangiexo

Yes, he set a good example, indeed.h was good hearged, if you neededa bike, hes check with your parents abd biy it for you,, he was not wealthy by any means, he owned a small buxiness, people came to him when in toughtimes. My Mom was the same way. Amazing people. They shared with all, not tight fisted, Dad lost his brother and sister during the Spanish flu! Oh, that was Cinderella night.Beryl. Love,Pangie xx
