Christmas Sonnet

Today's hopes are reborn in the new star,
In Bethlehem, a King to us is born,
We saw its gleaming in the fields afar,
What a merry, glorious Christmas morn'!

For way too many years it was no light,
For way too many years, just dark and fear,
We lost our hope in the cold, endless night,
The Light of The World is finally here.

Emmanuel, today God is with us,
A baby cry broke all the heavy chains,
Emmanuel, today God is with us,
Our Lord, our Mighty King, forever reigns.

Today Jesus was born in Bethlehem,
Hallelujah, Hallelujah Amen!
