Christmas Mourning
Crystalline sparkling day, translucent night sky,
the harbinger of cheer-laced Christmas time
we celebrated drinking the dregs of cupful joy of heart,
sharing with our long-time neighbor
since when I didn’t remember,
but the luminous smile of their little daughter,
dancing around the glittering Christmas tree,
I didn't forget and waited the whole year to see.
Christmas came that year on the frozen wings
of the melancholic winds of whispering despair,
blew all the candles out, the light disappeared,
searching for the smile on the face of the girl,
gone away somewhere else unreachable
to dance and smile in white Christmas splendor.
My heart mourned the void that engulfed
the dark Christmas night falling on my neighbor.
