Christmas Gifts
Who needs mistletoe?
My lover's lips
Are all the invitation I need
To feed on those sweet sugar plums
Oh so greedily
A sparrow on a bare branch
Is caroling for me
"Commonplace" I hear you say
Still, it wears the face of God
As it ornaments this tree
With warm hearts and crinkly eyes
Friends shake me from my wintry mood
Like merry multi-colored lights
They brighten my dark nights
My gloominess - subdued
These things I hold in my heart
As an echoing melody of a song
These are the gifts of Christmas
I open all year long
