Christmas Day

A hush descended as we crept down the stairs
We wondered if Santa had visited
Cautiously we opened the living room door
Santa’s glass of sherry had been drunk,
his mince pie had a bite from it,
Rudolph’s carrot has vanished into thin air!
SANTA’S BEEN we screamed excitedly!
Bright lights twinkled on the Christmas tree
In the glow we could see two sacks by the fireplace
But my eyes had alighted on a long thin present; 
It was gigantic and seemed to reach to the ceiling
I looked at the label and discovered it was for me…
Ripping of the red and white paper I revealed the toy of my dreams
I literally bounced around the room like Tigger…
For now I had my very own pogo stick.

Login to Reply Jan Allison Date: 12/12/2016 4:24:00 PM It is the ONE present I do remember Eve, we too didn't have much - I used to love jigsaws so may have got one of them, but there was not a lot of money around for 'treats' not like many of the kids nowadays who have so much stuff and they don't appreciate it - I think we were happier and healthier then Eve got out in the fresh air not stuck in front of a games console:-( hugs jan xx
