Chimera

Tucked between bed sheets waiting for a night of torturous cumber. Eyes heavy from constant sedating and heart resisting restful slumber. Truth lies beyond ardent reality touching minds that yearn to grasp. Holding on tight to false morality is like fighting with the deadly asp. Sight torments with strong intent till all will is ultimately broken. Suddenly life freefalls in descent leaving souls like a worthless wood token. Flying dragons cross ocular view along with cryptic dark spirits. Aware that tonight is a preview of what a psychic demon permits. Ghastly faces spring from dead walls with glaring eyes summoning you in. No one there to heed desperate calls following everywhere you have been. Monsters that hide under a bed waiting for you to bring them out. Not realizing they are in your head you are the one in changing doubt. Copyright © 2010 By Caryl S. Muzzey

Frightening, but very believable, Caryl. Have wrangled with nightmares most of my life and, as a child, believed there was a monster beneath my bed. I used to get on top of the bed and leap feet from it so it couldn't reach out and pull me. Excellent write about "illusions." I think Constance will love this one as much as I did! Love, Carolyn
