Childhood Fun

Mummy, come in from the garden!
Mummy, come see what I've done!
I got out my paintbox and did you some pictures,
oh, Mummy, I've had so much fun!
There's a Lion, a Tiger and Cheetah
I've drawn all up the kitchen wall,
and the Penguin and Polar Bear on the fridge door
look like they are having a ball!
Ooh, look, a big snake, it's all slimy and green
that I've done across the kitchen floor
and I really am certain the mice on the curtains
you'll love, do you want to see more?
Oh, Mummy, your hands are both shaking,
your face has gone terribly white,
there's a tear in your eye and you've let out a sigh,
oh dear, Mum- are you feeling alright?

I love this poem, Viv! I can picture this happening very easily. I used to beg my grandmother to let me paint a mural on her entrance wall...could not understand why she just laughed! Congrats on your nice win. Sandra

G'day Viv … the vivid imagination of a child at times misses the mark. A few years later while dad's asleep they'll be shaving his eyebrows off - thanks again Mate - Lindsay

Very clever and I love this one, Viv. It is so relate-able since I remember drawing all over everything as a child. GL in the contest though I doubt you need it. :D

Thanks, Carole. Fortunately, we had lots of cut-off rolls of wallpaper to keep me amused. Viv x
