Childhood
When you are in it,
you think it'll never,
ever come to an end.
How could its magic
simply vanish!...
gone with relentless time?
Because time itself is
but illusion to a child,
something that moves
so slowly you can never
really understand why
the grownups keep on
and on about wasting time,
and how time flies!
Nonsense! you say,
because you know!
You know time is a glacier--
just look how long it seems
before a birthday or
Christmas comes--
when days are weeks
and weeks are months....
And in your child-heart
you believe you will
always remain young
and free of spirit, for
you are wise and know
the big people live
in a hard little world
while you are ruler
of an entire universe....
