Written for Robert James Liquori's Deep Purple contest.  The poem is written inspired by the Deep Purple song, Child in Time.

In the tribulations of time, our childhood swiftly becomes adulthood. Fragile innocent souls, collecting memories, woven by the threads of fate's design, wandering through this labyrinth we call life. With eyes wide open we gaze in wonder, exploring the world upon uncharted paths. In each moment there's a lesson we uncover. Creating friendships to nourish our souls. We dance through fields of diverse petals, breathing among aromatic jasmine air. Our laughter is a melody for tomorrow. A symphony of joy, pure and unique. But time is relentless and marches on, as childhood's innocence, like sunset, begins to fade, as adversity brings trials, yet still we find the courage to bravely carry on. Through human interaction our minds expand, facing the winds of change, as destiny calls. But deep within that child's internal glow, a spark of hope softly continues to kindle. Although we may age with or without grace. Within our heart, remains that child in time. Our beacon of light with a spirit of desire. Guiding us through life's endless climb.

SO, I enjoyed reading this carefully and thinking about every thought and image. We are who we are indeed and our inner qualities remain no matter what we face (as part of fate's design). You describe the journey with considerable accuracy and skill. A pleasure to read this.

Stunning artistic well-crafted writing. So eloquent. Couldn't be better. Up there with great classical poets. A favourite yet again. So true what a great talent you are. Pete.

"Although we may age with or without grace. Within our heart, remains that child in time." There's always that child within that needs to feed, grow and heal. Congratulations

Your poem left me breathless, Silent One. Like Bill said, the song set the stage for your poem with it vivid imagery and flowing words. I especially liked the last verse...'within our heart remains that child in time.' Those words will stay with me, for the resonated with my soul. Best wishes with the contest & have a pleasant evening, Sara

It is amazing that, "the child in time", remains with us throughout our journey, Silent One. A great entry for the Deep Purple Contest, my friend. It should do well. Listening to the song before reading the poetry really set the stage for your brilliant poetry. Your first verse was a dynamic opening of the door to life's experiences. Your rhythmic words guide us through each stage of life with vivid imagery. "Creating friendships to nourish our souls." the perfect close to verse one.

The closing verse eases us into the final reality with the closing two lines, "Our beacon of light with a spirit of desire. Guiding us through life's endless climb." A FAV for my list. It is a joy to read your poetry, my friend. Thanks for sharing it with us. Bill

Oh iv never listened to this song before this, its not bad huh! Beautiful song. So deep and your take is beyond beautiful and so seamless. I love the flow of this and also how youv written so many lines is so soul hitting! Especially loved the lines “ But time is relentless and marches on, as childhood's innocence, like sunset, begins to fade, as adversity..,“ reality it is. But what stood out the most is “ We dance through fields of diverse petals, breathing among aromatic jasmine air.“ gosh! That just left me breathless. And when i listen to the song and read your poem i can see how well it fits the melody too! Just beyond creative and poetic of you! Youv nailed it! Pleasure reading this. A fave it is for me

Dear Silent One, You sure can pack in those metaphors, most impressive.. "threads of fates design", "fields of diverse petals". I especially liked the very potent last line. Have a blessed weekend

Awesome take on the song. I took it in a different direction but I like the fact that you point out there's always a child inside us that remains, and we are the product of a specific point in time

I didn't want it to be wholly about the song's meaning... I just let my pen direct me and finished with this one.. did you write for this?

truly a masterpiece, Silent One. Each verse stands alone. Your imagery is soulful (if that makes sense). I particularly liked this verse for its profundity and truth: But time is relentless and marches on, as childhood's innocence, like sunset, begins to fade, as adversity brings trials, yet still we find the courage to bravely carry on. The last verse gave me pause...and the music you selected was ideal. Best wishes with the contest, enjoy your day, Sara
