Chicken Salad and Dandelions

                  ……Chicken Salad and Dandeloins……

Alas, corn on the cob, cool drinks, gone!
Our choice summer, sang its last song.
Children had their day in the hot sun.
                  Sandcastles alone, one by one.

Baseball diamonds bare of loud cheers.
No loud shouts for “cold beer, here”!
                  Firecrackers, feet dug in sand.
Nor a dance, by our city’s band.

Not one silver kite, will shine on high.
                  Farewell, soft, endless, summer skies!
                  Fragrance of our beloved flowers,
We shall smell in chilled, winter’s hours!

Gershon! I cringed when I lived in Chicago. Those gray skies, trees that lost their glory. Blech!I could not wait till Spring. I live in a Mediterranean climate now.l Love it!! I won’t mention winters in the Midwest and their icy problems.. the many falls I took. Thank you for mentioning the poem, itself. I really am working on being better at this art. Huggs, Pangie

Panagiota, Love this chicken (salad) for the soul and dandies. Also, one of my favorite seasonings for end of season baseball. There'll be a time to dance again, with hope. I hope. -Richard

Hello Panagiota, yes the summer season is gone. Gone somewhere else. Autumn is here now. Mother nature is painting her leaves with the colors from her paint box. It is a beautiful season. Yet it also means it is time to rake the leaves. Many of us od not like to rake the leaves. Or colder weather. Hugs, xxx Darlene

Hello Darlene. I was not writing at all about Autumn. I left the arctic air of Chicago behind me There are tons of poems about autumn on site. I had enough of them.! My poem is chock full of imagery and sounds, I was not giving a weather report for today LOL Huggs, Pangie
