Chicken Or the Egg

bird, conflict, creation, imagery, irony, nature, word play,

“A QUESTION FOR MOTHER NATURE!”
Was it Mother Nature to create---?
An egg before the chicken….
Or chicken before its’ egg?

Either way-laid they need one important ingredient---
Claimed to give justice to one chicken egg….
And this all leads to a muddled egg toast scramble!

A chicken and a rooster begets one egg---
And if it were nature’s way and the chicken had a first go ….
From where was that rooster to coq-a-doodle-do his do?

Might it be one egg was created firstly---?
And if so; was it to be an ‘it’, him or a she….
Who gave first crack to its’ shell form?

Either way it adds up to a today’s laid dozen---
One on its’ own; could not and would not do….
Become everyone’s Sunday roast chicken dinner!

Interesting piece, Diane. A Very good question of what came first is brought up, a ponder that debate at times too. Good piece. Enjoyable overall. Check out some of my poems, might find some you like. Peace

Diane I understand your confusion, I believe the order in which this occurred, was chicken first, then the egg, with artificial insemination coming in a close third. I hope this has been of some help, Lol

Now why didn't I think about that---why I missed that what with everything being artificially inseminated including mankind! Good one, tha
