Notes About The Poem

We live on the edge of town; as a result, 'critters' from the open fields behind us find their way into our neighborhood.  Recently, armadillos (in search of worms) have chewed up our lawn and our neighbors' lawns.  What a frightful mess.

Chef Armadillo

at dawn, Chef Armadillo opens his sun-scorched café.
jalapeños jump on the counter like tiny green fireworks.
tortillas twirl as he flips them into sky-high desert specials.
coyotes queue up for his legendary inferno tacos.

Just another average day in the desert....

Wonderful read; dog eat dog, survival of the fittest. Amazing, fascinating, and heart breaking in a way. Recently I am back to entirely vegetarian, nothing from an animal. Was a pure Vegi, 30 years, when I was younger, strong as an ox, needing meat is a myth. Fascinating creatures! Love his helmet. Coyote Tacos:))
