Check Out Time
When the motel decays,
gets weathered,
and the electricity frays,
when only one letter
on the marquee sign works;
when you're beleaguered by
the weight of the world
on your shoulders;
when the loss of those close to you
construed to isolate you,
to lionize you as the king of loneliness,
to inhibit your boldness,
when you're Savoie fair,
becomes inept among the masses;
and you're wit becomes
dull, and never passes;
these are the times
that try mens souls,
instead of being embraced
we’re left out in the cold;
so the situations prime,
it’s checkout time.
