Chasing the Sun

Whilst the world took no notice, we paddled our feet Down by shores edge, where the brine’s bittersweet Bubbles lap around, and sand displaces underneath Latency fills the air, seagulls squawk, fight, and eat Still the world takes no notice, not even a tiny peep Perhaps it’s gone away, yeah, probably fell asleep Our past for the moment, melts deeper into the deep Strolling along together, where time seems to creep Indeed the world takes no notice, not even a yawn We’re two grains of dust, on the infinite cosmic lawn Lost in a strange moment, way past our life’s dawn Moving through the void, all too soon to be withdrawn As the world takes no notice, we take our chance to run For if we move fast enough, might catch up with the sun, Prevent it from setting, then tomorrow will never come Least if we die trying, this last day will be endless fun By David Kavanagh

"We’re two grains of dust, on the infinite cosmic lawn"..... In a sense aren't we too insignificant to be noticed? A profound poem offering philosophical insights into life ! Worth pondering over and again ! Great writing, David !

Thank you very much Valsa, We really are insignificant, but we still form part of the universe, which leads me to postulate we will always be part of it for all eternity, which in turn opens endless possibilities, cheers David

David, you've created an excellent poem that encapsulates the essence of life. At any point in our life, none of us knows what destiny holds; we can only be certain living in the moment, as unpredictable mayhem has a knack of reminding us.

Thank you Lasaad, indeed to take anything for granted in this life would be a folly, if we do get a moment of sheer enjoyment, try make the most of it, for who knows when random chaos will creep back in, cheers David

For some reason I've got this image of Putin pressing the button and the sun disappearing from view and just making the most of what little time we have left. Thought provoking verse David. Tom

Your pretty near the mark Tom, it’s essentially about facing death at any given moment in our lives, none of us know what’s in store tomorrow, we really can only be sure of the here and now, random chaos seems to have a habit of reminding us, we are not in control, cheers David
