Changing My Ways For Brighter Days

Inside a safety net I stayed
Back and forth I always swayed
To avoid the complications
From any kind of confrontations
It doesn't matter what I did
Or the times I always hid
I would get smacked really hard
As it caught me way off guard
Whacked with a force so severe
Knocking me down on my rear
Getting up time after time
Searching for a way to find
A way out of this bad cycle
That's been happening a while
The past catching up with me
I couldn't hide the misery
Of days from my younger years
I was alone and so scared
No one's love to get me through
The hard days I always knew
So in a shell I crawled up in
Not letting any light in
The dark life I have been living
I just need one chance on giving
Myself a happy new day
Throwing the heartache away
